The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, in the 2023 Anambra North Senatorial Zone election, Dr Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano has distributed relief materials to people displaced by flood who are quartered in different internally displaced persons camps in the state.
The materials which will help them to cushion the effects of the disaster were cartons of noodles, bags of rice, loaves of bread, cartoons of diapers, bags of garri and salt as well as cartons of bottled water.
the delegation also included a medical team who conducted medical examinations on the displaced persons, administered drugs and provided care for newborns delivered in the camp.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the exercise, the APGA Candidate, Dr Obiano represented by the Director General of Osodieme Campaign team, Chief Chinedu Nnatuanya regretted the plights of victims of the flood, noting that they lost virtually everything and are also exposed to different health hazards.
Dr Obiano, who is the Wife of the immediate past Governor of Anambra State called on relevant authorities to quickly come to the aid of the victims, especially children, nursing and pregnant mothers and assured them that she will give them necessary assistance for them to rebuild their homes when the floods reference.
Dr Obiano also announced to take up the medical costs of the flood displaced persons who were referred to different hospitals during the visit.
The leader of the medical team, Dr Chidumeje Okafor highlighted some of the illnesses found in the camps, which he said threaten the new babies and toddlers.
On his part, the Anambra East Chairman of APGA, Chief Joseph Ekwealor maintained that Dr Obiano is well known for using her Caring Family Enhancement, Initiative (CAFÉ), to put smiles on people’s faces and noting that the supply of the palliative to the flood victims will go a long way in reducing their plight and giving them a sense of belonging and called on the people of Anambra North Senatorial Zone to give their support and vote for the APGA candidate to guarantee transformation of the district and democracy dividends to the door steps of Ndi Anambra North.
Some of the flood displaced persons, including Mrs Ify Atogu, Mrs Maureen Nwakasi and Chief Edwin Okafor extolled Dr Obiano for her usual support and care which they said speak for themselves and recounted all her numerous good deeds during her husband’s administration.
The camps visited were, Father Joseph Memorial Secondary School Aguleri, Unity Hall Umueri, Umuoba Anam Unity Primary School, Eziagulu Aguleri Community Primary School, Ayamelum Local Government Area Headquarters, Anaku, Odekpe Civic Centre, Crowther Memorial Primary School, Onitsha and many other places.
