The Federal Government has urged the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, to utilise Science, Technology and Innovation, in solving some daunting challenges facing the region.

The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Adeleke Mamora, gave the advice at the closing ceremony of the maiden edition of African Research and Innovation Forum 2022 in Abuja.

He tasked ECOWAS on solving local problems using Science, Technology and Innovation so as to build a better society for socio-economic development and not wait for Science, Technology and Innovation to become a global concept.

He noted that Nigeria has taken the first major step by hosting the maiden edition of the African Research and Innovation Forum and any other ECOWAS nation hosting the next edition should improve on the concept to encourage African Research and Innovation.

There were presentations of African Research and Innovation Forum certificates and awards in various categories while President Muhammadu Buhari was honoured with ECOWAS Award of Recognition for hosting the maiden edition of African Research and Innovation Forum.
