The Archbishop, Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim has ordained eight new Deacons of the Anglican Diocese Of Awka during the Trinity Diaconate Ordination of the Diocese.
The ordination took place at Saint Mark’s Anglican Church, Umuawulu, Awka South Council Area .
The newly ordained Deacons are Reverends Benjamin Alagbu, Anthony Edoziuno, Solomon Ezeiruaku and Nnaemeka Ezeonyi.
Others are Reverends Chukwuma Ikegbo, Chizoba Muogbo, Felix Okanime and Sunday Owolu.
Most Reverend Ibezim asked them to serve the church of God and to work with its memebers in caring for the poor,the needy,the sick and all who are in trouble.
Most Reverend Ibezim urged them to strengthen the faithful, search out the careless and the indifferent and to preach the word of God in the place in which they are licensed.
Earlier in a sermon during the ordination service, the Retreatant, Right Reverend Sam Chukwuka who spoke on the theme ‘The Kingdom of God is prepared for some people”, charged Christians to serve God diligently.
Right Reverend Chukwuka, a retired Bishop of Isikwuato/Umunneochi Anglican Diocese, stated that Christians should follow God truthfully and always remain on the path of righteousness.
The President, Mothers’ Ministry, Province Of The Niger and Awka Diocese, Mrs Martha Ibezim reminded the new Ministers’ wives that they were called alongside their husbands and should be up and doing to succeed in both family and church and at the end have a successful ministry.
Speaking unbehalf of the newly ordained Deacons, Revered Benjamin Alagbu and Reverend Nnaemeka Ezeonyi thanked God for the call to work in his ministry assuring that they will continue to spread the undiluted words of God so as to win souls for Him.
Before they were ordained, the deacons passed through necessary examinations and took oaths of canonical obedience, submission, allegiance to God and against homosexuality and bisexuality.
The ordination service was attended by Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, the legal team of the diocese led by the Chancellor, Justice OJ Okeke ,the Managing Director, Anambra Broadcasting Service-ABS, Sir Chido Obidiegwu, the State Chairman of the Nigeria Union Of Journalist, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu ,some traditional rulers and many others
Most Revered Ibezim later preferred some priests Canons and Venerables.
