Officials of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, ACTDA, has sealed off an illegal granite site at Regina Caeli Junction Awka, Awka South Local Government Area.

The officials, led by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ossy Onuko, equally inspected Timber Market Umuokpu Awka among others.

Correspondent Chibuzor Okoye reports that speaking shortly after sealing the site, Mr. Onuko said that the owner of the site illegally acquired the area, which according to him, is against ACTDA guidelines, frowning that it has defiantly continued to engage in illegal commercial activities in the place.

He revealed that his predecessor and his team had told him to stop the illegal activities before his resumption, but he has not obeyed the order and made it clear that the site owner has been given five days ultimatum to leave the place or ACTDA will confiscate everything in the site, as it negates the aesthetic plan of the area.

Contributing, the ACTDA Head of Development Control, Mr. Charles Ekwunife, regretted that the company had deliberately ignored all the removal order given to it in the past and warned all those, who are thinking of engaging in such illegal activities to desist forthwith or face the full wrath of the law.

At Timber Market, Umuokpu Awka, the ACTDA boss, frowned that the rate at which they build lock up shops without approvals are alarming, and noted that the market did not observe the twenty-five meters approval setback code from the federal road.

He maintained that under his watch, the agency will do everything humanly possible to restore the glory of the city, according to Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration policy of making Anambra State a prosperous, mega and a livable homeland.
