As part of efforts to usher in the yuletide and complement Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s mission of ensuring clean and green environment, the people of Enugwu-Agidi Community in Njikoka Local Government Area have commenced community cleanup exercise in major places within the town.

The move is to ensure that their streets and roads that have been overgrown by grasses and blocked drainages are cleared.

Some of the areas where the exercise was carried out included Enugwu-Agidi Secretariat by Ugwu-Ogu, Pagra Junction by Iru Obi Eli -Igbolo Enugwu-Ukwu and Enugwu-Agidi, Enugwu-Agidi Girls Junction and Bridge among others.

Speaking in the exercise, a resident of the town, Mr. Vincent Onyekwelu said that since the community connects other neighboring towns across the state, there is need to care for the community through constant clearing of bushes, desilting of drainages and filling up of pot holes to ensure that the roads are motorable.

He pointed out that lately, road users usually avoid major roads in the town because of their deplorable condition and insecurity hence, the need to invest in maintaining government property in their community for posterity.

A road user, Sam Oraegbunam, applauded the town for embarking on the palliative work and called for its continuity.

He thanked the community for its doggedness and asked others to emulate such deeds in order to lessen the burden faced by government on maintenance of roads.

For the Supervisor of the work, Mr. Gozie Anaesona, the move will restore serenity, warm reception of visitors and attract investors.

He stated that constant usage of the roads is of optimum importance and pledged their unalloyed support to the Soludo Administration.
