The Anambra State Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Comrade Don Onyenji has called for backward integration of Igbo Cultural values in order to benefit from the gift of nature.

 

Commissioner Onyenji made the call during the Kanyituo Alo Ozioma Odinana Annual lecture, organized by the Ozioma Odinana fans Assembly on ninety-point-seven FM ABS Onitsha, held in Awka.

The Commissioner who listed some Igbo value systems to include brotherly love, sanctity of blood, respect for elders and hard work, also encouraged them never to look down on their culture because it is their identity.

 

He reminded them of the Governor’s interest in Culture hence the creation of the Ministry of Culture, Entertainment, and Tourism.

 

He further called on Ndigbo to embrace their language for it not to go into extinction.

Commissioner Onyenji informed them of huge amount of money budgeted for youth’s empowerment by Governor Soludo and urged them to avail themselves the opportunity to be trained and be empowered

 

On his part, one of the participants Mr Chukwudozie Nwabufo wondered why some security agencies treat traditionalists with disrespect and even arrest them in some cases, urging the government to help them out.

He condemned atrocities being perpetrated by some individuals such as adultery which according to him has its consequences.
