Governor Chukwuma Soludo has inaugurated the re-construction work on the Y-Junction Road in Awka.
The popular Y-Junction Road connects a lot of Communities from UNIZIK Temporary Site, Awka, including Okpuno and Isuaniocha which are fast becoming urban settlements.
The road has been in a deplorable condition for a very long time, especially the Goodwill junction axis which has been completely cut off from motorists.
The contract stipulates that from UNIZIK to Y-Junction will be dualized with pedestrian walkway.
Club road, Regina Caeli, Millennium, INEC, Ekwueme Square, Post Primary Schools Service Commission, among others are also part of the contract, totaling fourteen point four-eight kilometers which is expected to be completed within ten Months.
Governor Soludo maintained that there is serious road crisis in the State which his administration is gradually tackling.
The Governor added that the major agenda of his administration is to lift the people out of poverty as they pay their taxes, pointing out that with strategic roads in place, asset values will continue to grow.
He stated that he had already started to rebuild the Governor’s Lodge, with the intention of living and operating from Awka
The Commissioner for Works, Mr Ifeanyi Okoma said that the Soludo-led government is concerned about the condition of roads in Anambra State, explaining that the roads will be stone based and reinforced with cement stabilization.
Earlier, the Transition Committee Chairman for Awka South Local Government Area, Mr. Thankgod Aniagor pledged their unalloyed support to Governor Soludo to enable him achieve his mandate.
Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that state Executive Council members, stakeholders of Awka and Okpuno communities including the Traditional Ruler of Okpuno, Igwe Sunday Okafor, were also in attendance.
