The Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Chioma Ezenyimulu says the state and the Federal Government are working round the clock to reduce the plight of people displaced by flood; who are staying at various holding centres in the state.
Dr. Ezenyimulu, who stated this at Iyiowa Odekpe Holding Centre in Ogbaru Council Area, explained that they were in the camp to identify with the displaced persons, vaccinate children against measles and other killer diseases and adults against COVID-19, as well as carry out routine immunization and birth registration.
She explained that large concentration of people at the camps necessitated good medical care to prevent outbreak of diseases.
Also speaking, the state Health Educator, Mrs. Uju Onwegbuezi explained that the routine immunization campaign has phases one phase two.
While expressing satisfaction with facilities at the Iyiowa Odekpe Holding Centre, Mrs. Onwegbuezi noted that the vaccination campaign will continue in four other council areas affected by the flood.
In his reaction, one of the flood displaced persons, Mr. Michael Obaze, who expressed joy over the attention given to them, said they have been living as one big family, and thanked the state government and others for their various interventions at the centre.
Highlight of the visit was presentation to the displaced persons.
