Tomorrow 5th November 2022, Anglican faithful, their friends and lovers of God will converge on the Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka for the 2022 Prayer Rally being organized by the Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger.
Ecclesiastical province of the Niger, made up of nine Dioceses namely: Niger, Awka, Nnewi, Aguata, Amichi, Ihiala, Ogbaru, Niger West and Mbamili Diocese, has continued to organize the prayer to collectively seek the face of God in finding lasting solutions to some of the daunting challenges facing mankind and the state in particular.
This year’s edition which is the ninth in its series will be presided over by the Archbishop of the province and Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Grace, the Most Reverend Alexander Chibuzor Ibezim JP, PhD to be assisted by other Bishops and clergy in the province.
It is expected that the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo CFR, Odenigbo Aguata and Dikeudo Isuofia will be part of the prayer rally which will commence by ten o’clock in the morning as special guest of honor, as well as other top government functionaries.
Though this prayer rally is being organized by all the Anglican Churches in Anambra State, there are no limitations to attendance because there is great efficacy in prayer. This prayer rally is very crucial at the moment in view of the series of challenges the country is passing through including insecurity, bad governance, poor economy and the flood disaster that has ravaged the country- killing and displacing thousands of persons and as well as submerging many houses and farmlands.
This is why everyone should join the Anglican prayer Rally tomorrow to seek the face of God in prayer because with prayer most of the problems facing mankind can be surmounted.
Also, as the Nigerian nation prepare for another round of general elections, it is pertinent that the people should come together in prayer and ask God to give the Nation a good leader that will take the country out of the present woes it is passing through.
It is on record that the Anglican Church has continued to be at the forefront of evangelism in Igbo land since July 27, 1857, and it is on this note that it has continued to embark on prayers to sustain the gains already recorded by the early missionaries led by Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther, with the help of Simon Jonas from Ogbunka in Anambra State. Since the coming of Christianity to Igboland , the Anglican Church has continued to engage on those activities that will check moral decadence in the society in addition to bringing the people closer to their creator.
One of these activities is the Anglican prayer Rally. Testimonies have also continued to follow the event and attendees since November 7th 2013, when it was introduced by the then Dean, Church of Nigeria, Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and pioneer Bishop of Aguata Diocese, His Grace the Most Reverend Christian Ogochukwu Efobi JP.
Tomorrow’s rally will witness the unlocking of destinies, and breaking of the gates of hell to liberate the people of God
The theme of the 2022 Anglican prayer rally is ‘Watch and pray’
