Anambra State government has approved the re-construction of another set of five roads across the State.
The Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu who disclosed this in a post Anambra State Executive Council Meeting revealed that part of the road is the Atani-Ozubulu road which has remained impassable for many years.
According to the Commissioner, the road which is a strategic by-pass through which travelers can connect Owerri road without entering Onitsha town is eleven point three-seven kilometres long and seven point three meters wide and will be completed within eighteen months by TAMAD Construction Limited at the cost of seven billion, six hundred and thirty-eight million, eight thousand, sixty-seven-naira, seventy kobo.
He explained that the contract for Isaho-Umuezeagu to permanent site of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Road, Umudim, Nnewi which has a length of two point two-two-five kilometres and width of ten point three meters was also awarded by the Anambra State Executive Council.
He pointed out that the work will be carried out by CBC Global Civil and Building Construction Nigeria Limited at the sum of one billion, one hundred and ninety million, three hundred and thirty-seven thousand, nine hundred- and fifty-two-naira, sixty-six kobo, and will be completed within eight months.
The Commissioner disclosed that rehabilitation of Awka Etiti-Ichida-Nkwo Igboukwu section of Nnobi-Ekwulobia Federal highway that has a distance of one point five-eight-five kilometres and average width of ten point three metres was also awarded to New Idea Construction Company Limited at the sum of four hundred and thirty-one million, eight hundred and nineteen thousand, one hundred- and eighty-nine-naira, eighty-six kobo, pointing out that the project is expected to be completed within five weeks.
Sir Paul added that the construction work at Umuagbuchi Eziama erosion road in Uli, Ihiala Local Government Area was also revalidated.
He noted that the road measured two point six kilometres long and ten metres wide, adding that the contract was re-awarded to Messrs Anyi Supreme Industry Limited at the sum of five hundred and eighty million naira.
The Commissioner stated that Benejaf International Limited was awarded a contract to control the gully erosion at Ebenator in Nnewi South Local Government Area which is one point eighty kilometres, thirty metres wide and sixteen meters deep.
He said that the value of the contract is six hundred and twelve million, two hundred and twenty-five thousand, five hundred and one naira, thirty-eight kobo and will be completed within six months
