Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, otherwise known as OCHA Brigade has commenced enforcement of state government directive on payment of monthly levies by Tricycle and commercial bus operatives in Anambra State.
The revenue drive which took place in Awka began from Eke Awka through Amawbia roundabout to Unizik junction.
The OCHA Brigade team also took the enforcement to Okpuno through Club Road to Arroma junction, down to Immigration junction.
The Tricycle operatives who defaulted were made to make their payments immediately as the team of Anambra Internal Revenue Service were on ground to process the payment.
Speaking shortly after the exercise, the OCHA Brigade Commander, Comrade Celestine Anere, frowned at the way some Tricycle and commercial bus operators took government policy for granted and said that although some of them enrolled and paid willingly, many are yet to comply, therefore making the enforcement inevitable and disclosed that such exercise had also taken place in Onitsha and environs.
Comrade Anere, said that no part of the state would be left out and assured that their duties would be carried out without fear or favour as OCHA Brigade is passionate about the new Anambra agenda.
He advised the operatives to be law abiding, adding that government revenue is very fair on all sides and made it clear that the state needs funds to deliver quality services to Ndi Anambra and hence the need for everyone to play their parts.
The OCHA Brigade Boss further said that OCHA Brigade will henceforth go tough on sanitation defaulters as keeping Anambra clean and healthy is part of their mandate and advised Ndi Anambra to always keep their surroundings clean, including business premises.
The OCHA Brigade Zonal Commanders, including that of Anambra South, Mr Emmanuel Obi, The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Waste Management Authority ASWAMA, Mr Mike Ozoemena were also part of the exercise.
