The Deputy Governor of Anambra State Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim has promised judicious distribution of relief materials brought into the state by individuals and organizations.
The Deputy Governor gave the promise when he received Ogbako Ndi Anambra in Warri, Delta State who brought items worth millions of naira which included bags of rice, cartons of noodles and three hundred thousand Naira cash for flood victims in the State.
The Deputy Governor while commending them for their humanitarian gesture described them as good ambassadors of Anambra State.
He described this year’s flood as the worst in the recent past, saying that it devastated the state’s infrastructure including roads, schools, hospitals and houses.
The Deputy Governor said due to the gravity of the impact the flood has on the people of the State, Governor Chukwuma Soludo inaugurated a flood disaster committee which he is the Chairman.
He said the committee is charged with the responsibility of helping to ameliorate the impact it has on Ndi Anambra.
On his part the Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism Mr Don Onyenji while introducing the Anambra State indigenes in Warri said they were touched by the level of devastation and losses being experienced by some Ndi Anambra.
The Commissioner who lamented the hunger, starvation and displacement being suffered by some Ndi Anambra commended Governor Soludo for his efforts towards assisting the victims of the disaster
He thanked Ogbako Ndi Anambra in Warri for their kind gesture and prayed God to reward them abundantly.
Presenting the items to the Anambra State Government, the Chairman of Ogbako Ndi Anambra Umeodunukwe Urika said they noticed the efforts of Anambra State Government towards assisting Anambra State victims of the flood disaster and decided to support with the various items.
