The National President of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, NSE, Engineer Tasiu Gidari-Wudil has restated the need to promote local content in all segments of the state economy

The President who arrived at the Anambra State International Passenger and Cargo Airport, Umueri, was received by the Awka Branch Chairmanbof NSE , Engineer David Okeke and other members of the society.

The President who was represented by the Deputy National President of the Society, Engineer Margaret Oguntala in an interview said that engineers have always made their mark in the society through local content initiatives.

He explained that registered engineers have not been indicted in building collapses but regretted the incursion of quacks into the profession and emphasized the need for people to engage qualified personnel in their projects.

On flooding, Engineer Gidari-Wudil said that the issue can be tackled with proper water channeling and drainages.

The Awka branch Chairman of NSE, Engineer Okeke, said they would sustain efforts towards improving country’s road infrastructure and assured that his tenure will see engineers in the branch increase their capacity.

The National President, Engr. Gidari-Wudil, the NSE Chairman Awka Branch, Engr. Okeke and other members of the society later went on tour of International Convention Centre, Awka and the College of Postgraduate Studies, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka where they were received by the Provost, Professor Philomena Igbokwe and later called on the traditional ruler of Okpuno, Igwe Sunday Okafor.
