A responsive government is one that knows the needs of the people and works hard to solve them. There is no gain saying that Anambra which was known as a state with best road network for several years now has more dilapidated roads than good roads. As such on assumption of office on the 17th of March , 2022, Governor Chukwuma Soludo inherited roads that were in very bad state and scattered in all the twenty-one local government areas of Anambra state. A pathetic situation it was but Governor Soludo’s spirit was not daunted as he decided to face the situation headlong.

This he began by visiting and flagging off different strategic and economic roads. First was in keeping with his promise of the regeneration of Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area. There he flagged off the construction of nine critical roads including the Obodoukwu-Owerri Road, Oguagu-Ik Onuorah-Anumudu-Mgbuka Amazu-Owerri Road, Edeh Road-School Road-Awalite-Ojoto-Owerri Road, School Road-Umuobom Street-Ojoto Street Junction, Umuobom Street(Ojoto St. Junction)-Adazi Ani St.-Owerri Road, Umunweke St.(Obodoukwu Junction)-Umeojiakor St.(Sch. Road Junction), Awalite(Ojoto Junction)-Anumudu(Mgbuka Amazu Junction), Uzii St.-Mission St.(Awalite Junction), Anumudu St.(Ik Onuorah Junction)-GMO Road.

Apart from Okpoko roads, Awka capital city has also received the attention of the Governor with the flag off six roads out of the sixteen roads approved in Awka which will commence as soon as the rains stopped.

Alongside the Flagg-off of construction of new roads, major interventions have been carried out on many roads even at the pick of the rainy season such as Limca road by People’s club axis Nkpor, ,St Joseph Cathedral Ekwulobia axis, Ekwulobia Round About, Agulu lake axis, Inland Doors axis of Nkpor -Umuoji road, two major places on the Amansea axis of Enugu-Onitsha old road and Enugu-Onitsha

Express Road, Regina Caeli junction -Old INEC road, Unizik junction-Obi Okoli road and many other road.

So far, over twenty-five roads measuring over 144 kilometers has been flagged off. This is in line with meeting the at least 220 kilometer roads which the Anambra State Government targets by the end of its one year in office. Some of these new roads include the 25.5km rehabilitation and Construction of Amansea-Ebenebe-Ugbenu-Awba-Ofemilj-Umuerum-Omor Road Phase one and the Construction of Amansea-Ndiukwuenu-Manu-Forest-Awa-Ufuma road which measures at 26.4KM. Roads in Onitsha commercial city and Nnewi metropolis are not left out as a large chunk of roads in the two major towns of the state have either been flagged off, redesigned or are in the pipelines.

The emerging commercial city of Ekwulobia will also receive it attention deserving its status. Governor Soludo had contracted the  construction of a modern flyover in Ekwulobia and construction of feeder and other roads in and around Ekwulobia Including Nanka, Oko, Isuofia and others.

During the presentation of the revised budget for 2022 physical year by Governor Soludo, he promised to construct two hundred and twenty kilometers of road within his one year in office. With all the steps he has taken so far which will be more visible to Ndi Anambra as soon as the rain stops, it is clear that he is hell bent on meeting that target

What this means is that within the next six to ten months, Anambra will reclaim its position as the state with the best road network in Nigeria, thanks to Governor Chukwuma Soludo
