Residents said the award of Ezira-Umuomaku-Enugu-Umuonyia -Achina road for construction is a prayer answered
According to them, to be connected and have the opportunity to relate with their neighbouring communities was the desire of the people of Ezira, Umuomaku, Enugu-Umuonyia and Achina communities .
Works correspondent, Ngozi Obileri reports that in answer to this prayer, Governor Soludo has awarded a contract to complete the road which was stopped at Ezira Bridge.
Recognizing that the twelve point four seven kilometer Ezira-Umuomaku-Enugu-Umuonyia-Achina road will also boost food production and aid evacuation of farm produce from the area to urban cities, Governor Soludo awarded the contract to a renowned construction company and gave him a mandate to deliver on schedule.
A visit to the road from Ezira end of the road was showed a virgin land, after Ezira bridge.
Farmlands were situated on both sides of the road, indicating that people of the area are predominantly farmers.
Speaking on the development, the Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South Council Area, Prince Neville Uchendu said that Ndi Orumba South are very lucky to have benefitted from the large heart of Governor Soludo, noting that the road when completed, will help people of the area whom he said find it difficult to bring their farm produce from their farms.
On the Ajalli-Nawfija-Akpu- Ufuma-Ogbunka road, a virgin road which ABS also visited, Mr Uchendu explained that it will bring a boost to business activities in the area and promote communal living, even as he extolled Governor Soludo for paying fifty percent of the contract money upfront to all the contractors handling various road projects across the state.
On his part, the President General of Ezira community, Mr Evaristus Onwumere thanked Governor Soludo for coming to their aid and also for awarding the contract to a good contractor, adding that when completed, people of the area would not have to go through a lot of stress to reach Ekwulobia and other communities surrounding them.
In their various speeches, some farmers: Messrs Uchechukwu Umeojiaku, Christian Anekwe and Obinna Okoli said that they have high expectations from Governor Soludo whom they said has kept his campaign promises, urging him not to relent in his untiring efforts to bring democracy dividends to the common man.
The Ajalli-Akpu-Nawfija -Ufuma -Ogbunka road is sixteen point four kilometers in length.
