Anambra State House of Assembly has urged Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the Commissioner for Works to immediately carry out palliative work on Umueze Anam- Oroma Etiti road to reduce the sufferings of the people.

 

The House passed the resolution following a motion of urgent public importance sponsored to that effect by the member representing Anambra West Constituency, Honourable Patrick Udeoba during plenary in Awka.

 

House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that in sponsoring the motion, Honourable Udeoba emphasized that the recent flood menace that occurred in some parts of Anambra State damaged a lot of property in his constituency and cut off Umuezeanam – Oroma road, which is the only access road to many communities in the state

 

The lawmaker maintained that the deplorable condition of the road has caused loss of lives and adversely affected the socio-economic activities of the area and needs urgent attention to prevent more casualties.

 

On his part, the Deputy Speaker, Dr. Paschal Agbodike who described Anambra West Local government area as the food basket of the state stressed the need for the Ministry of Works to urgently commence palliative work on the road to make it motorable.

 

The Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Uche Okafor commended Governor Soludo for working hard to fix all the dilapidated roads in the State and expressed optimism that the Governor Soludo will come to the aid of the people as he read out the resolution of the House while the lawmakers supported it through voice vote
