The Anambra Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, has held its maiden edition of the Senior Prefects Summit with a charge on the prefects to implement moral based values in schools.

 

The summit which is the brainchild of the Chairman of Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Professor Nkechi Ikedigwu, held at Girls Secondary School, Awka, attracted senior prefects from over two hundred secondary schools across Anambra State, all members in charge of six educational zones of the state and their teachers.

The theme of the summit “Leadership and Morality” aims to teach the students the nitty gritty of leadership positions.

 

In a good will message, the chairman, PPSSC, Professor Ikedigwu, explained that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s emphasize on transformational change in the education system inspired the Senior Prefects Summit adding that students are the most important aspect of PPSSC.

She said that leadership is all about service and inspiring people to do things that are extraordinary, adding that the main duty of a prefect is to maintain an atmosphere of friendly cooperation, peace, discipline and unity in school.

 

Professor Ikedigwu while charging the students to let their actions be based on ethics, driven by moral values, commended the principal of Girls Secondary School, Awka, for providing them with accommodation for the summit.

In his paper presentation titled “Entrepreneurship and Life”, a lecturer from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Mr Okey Nwuche, said that entrepreneurship is the mindset that perceives opportunity where others see failure or fear rejection.

 

Also in her lecture, another resource person, Mrs Chinyere Arinze, pointed out that the objective of the summit was to equip the senior prefects for them to influence their fellow students positively and charged them to be leaders of system that works.

Another resource person, Venerable Chigozie Anieto, commended the Anambra State government for organizing the leadership summit for senior prefects of public secondary schools and prayed that its impact will be far reaching.

 

In a vote of thanks, a student of G.S.S, Awka, Miss Promise Anodozie, thanked the organizers of the programme and expressed belief that it will leave a lasting impact on them.
