Anambra State Government has waded into Akaeze title holder crisis at Ogbunike Community, Oyi Local Government Area.

 

Akaeze title holder in Ogbunike Community remains the traditional ruler’s prime minister and confidant.

The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr. Collins Nwabunwanne, disclosed this when a delegation of red cap chiefs from Ogbunike Community visited him in his office at the government house, Awka, for reconciliation.

 

After listening to the two factions, which is Ogbunike Community versus Chief Anene Osadebe group on the issue, Commissioner Nwabunwanne ordered that the position of Akaeze title be returned to Osile Village as contained in the standing legacies of the community’s title positions for peace and stability.

He pleaded with Chief Anene, who hails from Ifite Village Ogbunike to allow Akaeze title holder return to statuesque for peace to reign.

 

While charging the red cap chiefs not to discriminate against Chief Osadebe and his group but to carry them along in their meetings to restore lasting peace, Commissioner Nwabunwanne warned that any meeting without Chief Osadebe and group stands cancelled by government.

Responding, the president of Ndi Ogbuefi, Chief Nwafor Onyezie, explained that the late Igwe John Umuyiora gave the Akaeze title to Chief Osadebe when he was alive as result of land dispute, he was having then with the people of Osile Village.

 

On their parts, Chief Osadebe and Chief Charles Mbanefo among others stated that the late Igwe Umuyiora gave the Akaeze title to Chief Osadebe, on twenty-eight September, 2019, under the presence of five recognized traditional rulers.
