Need to respect, honour and appreciate the older people came to the fore last Sunday when the youths of Adazi-Ani community in Anaocha Local government area Visited the oldest person in the area Chief Reuben Igwilo who is at present One hundred and one years of age.

 

Speaking during the event, the Chairman of Adazi Ani Youths Mr Chukwuma Eyisi, said that the purpose of the visit was to appreciate the longevity of Chief Igwilo as the oldest man in Adazi Ani community.

According to Mr Eyisi before they came to the conclusion that Chief Igwilo is the oldest man in Adazi Ani, a series of inquiries were made which he said took them time.

 

He said that there are blessings that abound in honouring the aged, and appealed to the centenarian, Chief Igwilo to continue praying for the sustenance of peace and speedy development of Adazi Ani community.

Contributing member of Adazi Ani Youths Mr Nwakonobi Omenudo, said that the visit was aimed at tapping from his wealth of experience, in addition to seeking his counseling and guidance to enable them attain longevity.

 

Another elderly man in Adazi Ani Chief Peter Ezechigbo who is eighty-one and was present during the event thanked the Youths of Adazi Ani for discovering the Oldest Man in the area which he described as first of its kind in the community and called on others to emulate them.

Responding, Chief Igwilo who thanked the youths of Adazi Ani for visiting him, advised them to always toe the path of truth and honesty in order to live long.

The oldest Man in Adazi Ani community used the opportunity to commend governor Chukwuma Soludo for having a different approach to governance, and appealed to him to remember the people of Adazi Ani in both infrastructural development and appointments.

 

He called on the people to always support and respect those in leadership positions.
