Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Transport has pledged to partner the Vehicle Inspection ServicesDepartment of Ministry of Transport to realize the vision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in transport sector.
The Chairman of the committee, Honourable Patrick Udeoba, gave the assurance when members of the committee embarked on familiarization visit to the agency.
Honourable Udeoba, who expressed satisfaction with the quality services Vehicle Inspection Officers are rendering to Anambra State, assured them that the committee will approve procurement of more vehicles for the agency to enhance their jobs, which he said is in the 2023 budget estimate.
On his part, the Head, Vehicle Inspection Services Department, Engineer MacDonald Achuam, while thanking the committee for their visit, informed them that they generated over four hundred million naira for Anambra State last year through the services they render to the state.
He informed the committee members that the agency is saddled with the responsibilities of certifying vehicles for road worthiness, supervising driving schools, sensitising the public on road usage, accident investigation among others to ensure safety of lives and property in the state.
Engineer Achuam went further to intimate the committee on functions of all the units in the department, and maintained that the symbiotic working relationship that exists between them and the committee will fastrack rapid development of the state
