Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, in the Federal Capital Territory has taken delivery of a brand new trophy donated by a non-profit organisation, Sir Emeka Offor Foundation.
The trophy, the second in three years, is in support of SWAN FCT’s annual weeklong event which kicks off Saturday nineteenth November 2022.
Presenting the trophy at his office in Abuja, the founder of Sir Emeka Offor Foundation, Sir Emeka Offor, described sports as a faactor needed to achieve peace and advance the course of human coexistence in any society.
He said that he engages in daily physical exercise through aerobics, gym and work out, and enjoined Nigerians to embrace sports as a veritable tool for enhanced living; amidst several strenuous economic and political happenings in the country.
Sir Emeka commended the leadership of SWAN in FCT for initiating a programme that encourages members to always make out time to exercise and bond.
Receiving the trophy, SWAN FCT Chairman, Mr. Ndubueze Chidoka, thanked Sir Emeka Offor Foundation for its unwavering commitment to putting smiles on the faces of Nigerians, as well as steady partnership with the sporting media, calling for emulation.
The 2022 SWAN week programme, which kicks off this Saturday with a walk and jog, health talk and handball contest, is scheduled to hold between nineteenth and twenty-fifth November at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja.
Ekwii Ajide of ABS, Abuja Bureau reports that already, participating teams and individuals are talking tough ahead of the competitions.
