Anambra State Government Ministries Agencies and Departments have commenced the defense of their 2023 budget estimate before Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation in Awka.
The exercise coordinated by the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation and other committees of the House is holding in the conference hall of the legislative complex.

in his opening remarks, the Chairman House of Assembly committee on Finance and Appropriation, Honourable Obinna Emeneka, explained that the meeting is a statutory requirement for the passage of 2023 Appropriation bill and will enable the Anambra State House of Assembly to scrutinize the budget estimate of ministries and confirm whether what MDAS appropriated are actually the funds they required based on their previous performances.
Honourable Emeneka further said the budget defense will help the House to allocate resources wisely, since a well-planned budget is of utmost importance to any government to ensure economic stability and growth.
While defending the 2023 budget estimate of the Office of Accountant General of Anambra State, the Accountant General of Anambra State, Dr. Chukwudi Okoli revealed that the Soludo administration is working towards making Anambra State a livable and prosperous mega city through computerization of office of the Accountant General to facilitate easy communication with Ministries, Agencies and Parastatals in line with International Public Sector Accounting Standard.
The Accountant General told the committee that his office will also put in place e-payment module that will enable them have the register of contractors handling various government projects and for easy payment of money into government coffers from any part of the world.
Also at the budget defense, the key officials of the ministries of Economic Planning, Budget and Finance appeared before the committee and defended their 2023 budget estimates.
