Federal government has reiterated its commitment to partnering the People’s Republic of China to build sustainable peace and security in Africa through research.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, stated this at the launch of the Contemporary World Nigeria, result of a research work in collaboration with the Chinese government in Abuja.
The Contemporary World Nigeria’s work is aimed at bringing in academic dimensions in research to pave the way for sustainable peace and security in the continent.
According to Mr Onyeama, the work will enhance sharing of experiences through research work to promote peace and security globally saying that Chinese government is assisting Nigeria in countering terrorism
The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Nigeria, Cui Jianchun, emphasized that the flagship magazine co-operation will allow bilateral relations to flow into the African continent through a profound and sustainable support from Nigeria.
For the Director-General of Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Mr Bakut Bakut, a hundred percent funding for the project is being handled by the Chinese government.
The research project is a joint effort of the Nigerian Institute for peace and conflict resolution and Chinese contemporary magazine that will cut across the African continent.
