A non-governmental organization, Ndi Igbo Royal Heritage World Wide, NIROH, has concluded plans to host the madien edition of Unity Day Celebration in Anambra State.

The five-day event, themed “The Unification of the Igbo Nation” and slated to commence on November 29, 2022 with a marathon race, is aimed at bringing all Igbo nations together as a people and re-awaken the consciousness of love and unity among them.

Announcing plans for the event in a press conference in Awka, the President General, Ndi Igbo Royal Heritage, Dr. Paul Okoye, in company of the Vice President, Dr. Ejike Ogoegbunam, stated that the programme also targets to reposition the Igbo man to take his rightful position in Nigeria, Africa and the world at large.

Dr. Okoye listed conference on Zik’s legacy, interstate football match, the unity day celebration proper and thanksgiving service in churches across South East states, as some of the major activities lined up for the madien edition of the Unity Day Celebration.

While speaking on the place of Ndi Igbo in the current Nigerian state, which according to him, requires collective efforts to reawakening, Dr. Okoye noted that the Unity Day Celebration would be an annual event that would be rotated among South East states.

He frowned at the current get-rich-quick syndrome by youths in the quest to amass wealth without considering the implications and called for urgent steps to save youths from getting completely ruined.

Dr. Okoye, who described Ndi Igbo as the second community in any ethnicity, expressed displeasure that the enterprising spirit of the Igbo man that qualified him as the driver of the Nigerian nation has eluded him as he has no other role model except money.
