Stakeholders in Idemili South Local Government Area have extolled the Chairperson of the council, Mrs Amaka Obi, for her leadership prowess since her assumption office.
At an event to mark her one hundred days in office, which featured stakeholders’ meeting and empowerment of about one hundred and fifty women and youths who underwent skill acquisition programme for three weeks; courtesy of the local government chairperson, the stakeholders unanimously drummed support for Mrs Obi.
Addressing Ndi Idemili South, the state Commissioner for Youth Empowerment, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba, noted that primary responsibilities of his ministry include creating one hundred and thirty thousand jobs through the private sector, and one thousand youth millionaires across the twenty-one local government areas in the state through the “one youth, two skills” programme.
He commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for appointing Mrs Obi to be at the helm of affairs of Idemili South, noting that she has so far demonstrated capacity in office and has proven that what a man can do, a woman can do better, even as he promised to adopt and integrate the beneficiaries of Mrs Obi’s skill acquisition programme into the entrepreneurial programme of the state Ministry of Youth Empowerment.
Welcoming the stakeholders at Idemili South Council headquarters, Ojoto, Mrs Obi said that the stakeholders have once again set Idemili South on a progressive path; in line with Governor Soludo’s vision for a healthy, prosperous and livable Anambra.
She highlighted successes made in some areas, including security, law and order, staff performance, environment, infrastructure, agriculture and empowerment, and specifically commended the APGA flag bearer for Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Chief Ikenna Iyiegbu, for attracting a one-kilometer road construction project to the Oba axis of the Umuoji – Oba road.
On his part, Chief Iyiegbu commended the achievements Mrs Obi has recorded, and enjoined with the stakeholders to go to their various communities to preach the good news of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, mobilize and ensure they vote massively for all candidates of the party come 2023.
Lending his voice, APGA flag bearer for Anambra State House of Assembly, Idemili South Constituency, Mr Ebuka Igwe, disclosed that they have not had it so good before now, adding that having invested in human development, security and empowerment, Mrs Obi has shown that she represents the solution they have been yearning for.
Another APGA chieftain in the council area, Dr Micheal Omenugha, said he was impressed that Mrs Obi has proven some points; as is evident in all the activities laid down in the Local Government Area.
In their separate speeches, two of the beneficiaries of the skill acquisition programme, Mrs Stella Okeke-Nze and Mrs Uchechukwu Egbosi, appreciated Mrs Obi and her co-sponsor, Chief Iyiegbu, for training them in various fields.
Beneficiaries of the skill acquisition programme were trained in nylon production and packaging, bakeries, production of other confectionaries, cosmetics facial makeup, bid slippers and necklace production.
