Anambra Central Senatorial District of the Association of Past Presidents-General has been inaugurated.

 

The inaugural ceremony which took place in Awka, featured award presentations to philanthropists who provided infrastructure, education, health and other visible capital projects in various communities within the senatorial district.

performing the ceremony, the President of the Association, Mr. Omife Omife, said the inauguration marks a great milestone in the success and growth of the association, revealing that Association of Past Presidents-General has become one of the most popular socio-political organizations in the state as an advocate of responsible and responsive political leadership and representation at all levels of elective and appointed political offices in the State.

 

Mr Omife, while appreciating the Senator representing the District at the National Assembly, Senator Uche Ekwunife whom he said is the brainchild of the association, enjoined the leadership and members of the new chapter not to relent in maintaining and propagating the noble ideals of the Association of Past Presidents-General.

The Chairman on the occasion, Senator Kola Balogun in a remark, charged the association not to relent efforts to ensure that its purpose is achieved and called on Nigerians to vote wisely in the 2023 electioneering year, and shun violence.

 

In his address, Chairman of Association of Past Presidents-General, Anambra Central Senatorial District, Dr. Ozoh Okonkwo, while pledging commitment of members of the new chapter to promote the association, noted that the inauguration also offers them the opportunity to articulate collective demands for the transformation of their communities.

He cautioned politicians against politics of bitterness and rancour urging them to embrace love among one another during the electioneering while urging the electorate to elect good people that will impact positively on their lives.

 

In a vote of thanks, the Secretary-General of Association of Past Presidents-General in the Anambra Central Senatorial District, Engineer Simeon Okafor, appreciated invited guests for making the event a reality.

 

The event which attracted Senator Uche Ekwunife, featured presentation of awards to Senator Balogun, Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government Chieftaincy and Town Union Matters, Barrister Rapheal Nnabuife, a philanthropist, Comrade Chukwudi Maduabum and President General of Urum Community, Chief Aloysius Tabansi among others.

Expressing their happiness, Chief Tabansi and Comrade Maduabum, represented by his brother, Chinonso, said hard work and charity attracted such recognitions and promised to do more philanthropic works and support the association.
