The Elite Youths of Anam Foundation, EYAF, has paid the sum of six hundred and forty thousand naira as registration fee of thirty-two candidates for the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, WASSCE.
Four candidates each were selected from the eight communities in Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area.
The foundation also gave out the sum of one million, four hundred and forty thousand naira as interest free loans to seventy-two indigent widows, nine widows each from the eight communities in Anam.
The he foundation made the presentation to candidates and schools for the registration as well as the disbursement of the interest free loan during its Elites’ summit 2022, held in Umueze Anam, Anambra West Council Area.
Elite Youths Foundation of Anam was founded in 2016 with programmes and projects towards the development of the youths to render services to God and humanity, educating and transforming the youths in view of becoming excellent leaders with high sense of responsibility, integrity and moral standard.
The theme for the Annual summit is ‘participatory governance, a means to stable community development in Anam’.
In his keynote speech, the Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Honourable Tonycollins Nwabunwanne represented by the Transition Committee Chairman for Anambra West Council Area, Mr Felix Ikechi called on Ndi Anam to make participation in governance at all levels a priority in order to help build an informed community which in turn will produce good leaders and followers.
In a paper presentation, the Transition Committee Chairman for Anambra East Local Government Area, Dr. Anslem Onuorah, titled ‘building a new system before this current system destroys us” revealed that the current situation in which the world exist is quite challenging but asked the people to begin to make better policies that will change the society for good.
In another presentation, titled ‘Stable Community Security in Anam Issues and Models’, Reverend Emmanuel Nze, asked the community to consider security as crucial element for stable development.
In his address, the President of the Foundation, Mr. Christopher Anekwe who maintained that the summit offers opportunity to unfold a new direction to face challenges confronting the community, called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to facilitate more intervention in the community and appealed for yam seedlings and cassava stems to be given to them for this year’s planting season which he said would alleviate the financial constraints and suffering of farmers and eliminate hunger.
In a remark, the Chairman Summit Planning Committee, Engineer Francis Edoziuno, represented by the Secretary Planning Committee, Mr. Chukwuemeka Nwakor, said the foundation is poised to develop, transform and uplift the community through the promotion of education, community development projects and services, as well as enlightenment and reorientation campaigns adding that the annual summit has come a long way and significantly impacted the community positively over the past few years.
Speaking on behalf of the students, Master Chukwuemeka Fidelis, thanked the foundation and promised to study well.
