Journalists have been advised to imbibe good dress habit to build their self confidence.
This formed parts of the talking points during the maiden edition of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Anambra State Council’s Fashion and Art Exposition 2022.
The event was in collaboration with Anambra State Government and held at the Godwin Ezeemo International Press Center, Awka.
Speaking, the state Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment, and Tourism, Mr. Don Onyenji, thanked the NUJ for organizing the event, which he said showcased Igbo Culture and made in Anambra Arts.
He stated that Igbo Culture has eroded over time, but there has been a recent turn around, with Ndigbo now embracing their culture as part of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration’s agenda.
For the General Manager and Chief Operating Officer, Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency, Mr. Agbanyim Chijioke, the concepts of art and journalism have creativity at their core, and as such, journalists have a role to play in bringing Igbo arts to the forefront.
In his speech, the chairman, NUJ Anambra State Council, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, while thanking everyone that graced the occasion, stated that art, fashion, and journalism, cannot be separated because journalists are the ones, who make art visible.
Speaking on the theme, ‘The Relevance of Art in Discerning Effective Journalism,’ a guest speaker, Barrister Edith Anyanor, described journalism as an enviable profession that allows one to meet people from all walks of life and stressed the need for a good first impression through smart dressing.
Barrister Anyanor urged stakeholders to look into the well-being of journalists to revitalize the profession.
Others, who spoke at the event, including the Director, National Orientation Agency, NOA, Barrister Charles Nworji, represented by Barrister Ifeoma Chijioke and the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation, Sir Chuka Nnabuife took turns to explain the importance of smart dressing.
Fashion runway exhibition and art presentations climaxed the event.
