Members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) Awka District, Anambra State, have called on the Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Sir Chido Obidiegwu to seek collaboration with the organization ahead of its 2023 maiden international conference.
The members of the institute were led on the visit by the Chairman of Awka District, Mr. Kingsley Dim.
The maiden international conference is scheduled to hold from March 21 to 24, 2023.
ICAN was established by the Act of Parliament No.15 of 1965 as a professional body recognized to regulate the practice of accountancy profession in Nigeria and set standards to be attained by professionals, enhance their ethical standards and technical competence in the public interest.
In his speech, Mr Dim said that the international conference is in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s mandate of progressing socio-economic development of Anambra State.
He described Sir Chido as a consummate professional, icon of transparency and accountability and explained that the visit was to interact and brainstorm on the challenges affecting the progress of the institute, which includes training and re-training of accountants among others in their various establishments for a shared interest.
According to Mr. Dim, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria is a leading global professional body known for producing World class-chartered accountants that will lead innovations and discussions on sustainability which will help to foster economic growth and prosperity.
Responding, Sir Chido assured them of the support of the establishment, adding that professional accountants in business represent the interest of the owners of the company, assisting companies with corporate strategy, providing advice and helping businesses to reduce costs, improve and mitigate risks.
