To meet the health needs of his constituents, the member representing Awka South Two Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Chukwuma Okoye, has commenced building of a health center at Uru village, Mbaukwu in Awka South Local government area.
The project, which foundation stone has been done by the legislator, is the first of its kind in the area.
Speaking at the construction site of the facility, Honourable Okoye explained that his earnest desire was for the people of Mbaukwu to have good health and contribute meaningfully to the development of Anambra State.
The lawmaker noted that the facility will reduce health challenges and compliment government’s efforts in providing affordable and quality health services to the people.
In his remark, the President General of Mbaukwu Town Union, Reverend Canon Josiah Onyekachukwu, applauded the legislator for the thoughtful initiative, adding that the facility will address the health challenges of the less-privileged in his community, while their pregnant women will have no reason to be under prolonged labour before delivery.
He disclosed that Mbaukwu community has benefited a lot from Honourable Okoye, especially constituency projects, and called on public office holders to emulate him.
In his speech, the contractor handling the project, Mr. Chidum Ogalanya, informed the gathering that the facility will cost millions of naira, and will have all the necessary equipment, wards and health personnel needed for adequate medical care on completion, even as he assured that the facility will be completed in March next year.
The Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Mbaukwu ward, Mr. Anthony Onyali, and APGA woman leader in the community, Mrs Amarachukwu Okafor, announced that that the party is proud of Honourable Okoye for fulfilling the promises he made to his constituents.
Later, the lawmaker inspected the progress of work at Umuenu Community Primary School, Umuawulu, where he is building a perimeter fence for the school.
In an interview, an indigene of the community and the immediate past Deputy Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Hafford Oseke, thanked the legislator for discharging his legislative duties to the satisfaction of the people of Awka South Two Constituency, and assured him of their unflinching support to his representation.
