Anambra State House of Assembly has passed the 2023 appropriation bill of about two hundred and sixty billion naira for the services of Anambra State government.

 

The appropriation bill was passed during yesterday’s plenary in Awka.

 

The Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Uche Okafor, who read out the appropriation bill for passage, explained that it will facilitate good governance of Anambra State in 2023, and applauded members of the House for painstakingly passing the budget estimate.

 

Right Honourable Okafor also extoled members of Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation for doing a thorough job, and read out the appropriation bill for passage; while the lawmakers supported it through a voice vote.

 

Earlier, the Deputy Chairman of Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Honourable Nonso Smart-Okafor, while presenting the report of the committee on the 2023 Appropriation Bill, explained that the recurrent expenditure remained unchanged, while the capital expenditure was increased to meet special needs of some ministries.

 

He expressed gratitude to members of the committee for showing commitment to the bilateral interaction on the 2023 appropriation bill between the committee and ministries, which he said resulted in expeditious passage of the budget estimate.

 

On his part, the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Sir Emeka Aforka, noted that the 2023 appropriation bill will enhance economic growth of Anambra State and enable Governor Chukwuma Soludo to realize his vision for the state.
