Work is in progress on Edeh road at Okpoko in Ogbaru Local government area of the state.
The Chairman of Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Works, Dr. Timothy Ifedioramma, made the observation when members of the committee embarked on oversight visit to the project site.
While inspecting the road project alongside other members of the committee, Dr. Ifedioramma explained that the road is part of nine others measuring fourteen point nine kilometers being reconstructed by the Soludo administration.
Dr. Ifedioramma observed that the construction firm handling the project is doing a good job and urged them to address issues the committee raised about the drains.
The lawmaker urged Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the Ministry of Works to redesign Okpoko Sakamori drainage channels to address the flood menace ravaging the area and other parts of Ogbaru Local Government Area.
Conducting the committee round the project site, the Project Manager, Mr. Daniel Saliba, informed the committee that they have done clearing, scarification of old asphalt, stone base on the road and concluded geotechnical and soil investigation test of the road to pave way for the next stage.
He assured the committee that the project will be delivered in April next year.
On his part, the member representing Ogbaru One Constituency, Honourable Noble Igwe, lauded the construction firm for working according to specifications, assuring that he will continue to monitor the project to prevent execution of shoddy jobs.
He also advised the people living in the area to desist from dumping refuse indiscriminately on the water channels.
