The traditional ruler of Enugwu Aguleri, Anambra East Council Area, Eze Chukwuemeka Eri has reassured of his commitment towards promoting Igbo culture and traditions.
Eze Eri made this known at his Palace atAguleri when a delegation of women from Nnewi, under the umbrella of Umunwanyi Nzukora Nnewi paid him a courtesy call to trace the origin of Ndigbo.
Eze Eri who went down memory lane on the sojourn of Gad and his son, Eri and how the expansion and procreation of Ndigbo began, revealed how sacredness of his throne, adding that he has been on the throne since 1976.
The Royal Father frowned at how Ndigbo left their tradition to imbibe alien culture which he regretted has caused more harm than good on their progress as a people, and made it clear that it is important that Ndigbo embrace their culture.
Eze Enugwu Aguleri extolled the traditional ruler of Nnewi, Igwe Kenneth Orizu and expressed satisfaction that Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council is championing the promotion of Igbo value, norms and traditions and called on Ndigbo to understand that their identity is unique and distinguishes them from other people.
Addressing the women, Chief Mrs Chika Ibeneme called on Igbo sons and daughters to reunite in the spirit of their forefathers and return to the value Ndigbo are known for.
The spokesperson of the women delegation, Mr Christian Anekwe maintained that it is important to start from the root so as not to make mistakes by knowing the origin of Ndigbo and seek ways to revive and promote Igbo culture.
For the Woman Leader, Umunwanyi Nzukora Nnewi, Mrs Ifeoma Udogu their mission was to promote morals, values and dignity among women, regretting the high rate of divorce in the society.
The women were later taken to the Obu Gad trinity tree for prayers.
