Anambra State Government has inaugurated the Awka Capital Territory Land Recovery Committee.
Inaugurating the committee in Awka, the Anambra state Commissioner for Lands, Professor Offornze Amucheazi, SAN, said that the committee will help Governor Chukwuma Soludo to achieve his mission in developing the capital city.
According to the Commissioner, the committee’s terms of reference include to identify Anambra state owned land and property that are currently in the possession of private individuals, determine and recommend to the state government the best procedure to be adopted in recovering the said lands and property.
Others are; to develop and recommend a framework that will prevent further occurrences of such incidents, as well as to consider any other issues that will be benefitial to the state government in its desire to maximize the potential of available lands in making the state a prosperous and livable megacity.
For the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, Mr. Ossy Onuko, members of the committee are men and women of proven integrity with track records, and expressed optimism that they will deliver on their mandate.
Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Professor Frank-Collins Okafor assured that they will do their job with honesty, sincerity and in tandem with Governor Soludo’s quest of giving Ndi Anambra a livable and prosperous homeland.
Other members of the Committee are; Mr. Charles Ekwunife, Secretary, Mr. Emeka Oyeoka, Barrister Nnaemeka Ugha, Barrister Joy Gbanigo, Mr. Ajuluchukwu Nwankwo and Chief Ben Okafor while Mrs. Lucy Okeke is representing the Anambra State Ministry of Lands in the Committee.
