Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has called on the family of the late lawmaker and Majority leader representing Awka Constituency One at the State House of Assembly, Dr. Nnamdi Okafor to live out his legacies in order to immortalize him.

Governor Soludo made the call at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka, where the funeral mass took place.

According to the Governor, immortalising the lawmaker entails carrying out some of the principles that he lived for and transmit same to his children, noting that it is the only way to sustain his legacies in perpetuity.

In his condolences, Professor Soludo described Dr. Okafor’s demise as a great loss to the entire state and his immediate family in particular.

The Governor called on the congregation to take advantage of the State Health Insurance Scheme and conduct regular checks on their health, because according to him the life expectancy in Nigeria is low.

He pointed out that in addition, people should take care of their environment as it is part of the emphasis of his government on building the liveable and prosperous homeland.

Earlier in a homily, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor said that wisdom makes it easier for the human beings to overcome challenges of life , noting that there is time for everything on earth, including time to be born and time to die, calling on the congregation to be careful about the kind of life they live because vanity upon vanity is vanity.

The Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Uche Okafor, Deputy Speaker, Dr. Paschal Agbodike, Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe, Traditional Prime Minister of Awka, Chief Ben Okoye, members of the State House of Assembly, family, friends and well-wishers, attended the funeral mass which featured choir ministrations.
