Governor Chukwuma Soludo has called on communities in Anambra State to be more proactive in the effort to enthrone a sustainable community development.

 

Governor Soludo made the call during a strategic meeting with the Presidents General of all the one hundred and seventy-nine communities in Anambra State at the ASATU hall Government House, Awka, to discuss issues of community interest and interest of the state.

Speaking at the interactive meeting, Governor Soludo maintained that his administration will go any length to give value to Ndi Anambra through sustainable community development.

 

He revealed that plans are underway to establish a proper community government as the fourth tier of government that will be backed by law to empower community leaders to drive development at the community level.

 

Governor Soludo while elaborating on issues of state and national interest, asked the PGs to use this Yuletide season to set up structures to help them maximize the potential of their respective communities in collaboration with the traditional rulers and other critical stakeholders.

 

He said that his administration will mainstream the use of communities as a solid base for effective execution of projects and thanked the Presidents General for their input in the fight to take back Anambra from non-state actors.

He called them to ensure that Ndi Anambra at various community levels participates in the forthcoming national population census for the good of each community and encouraged them to take ownership of their respective communities.

 

Governor Soludo reassured them of his resolve to build a better Anambra State through proper engagement, creation of opportunities, provision of basic amenities as well as enabling environment for businesses to thrive and assured to reestablish public contracts with the people and provide Ndi Anambra great value for their money.

Responding, the National President, Anambra State Association of Town Unions, Barrister Titus Akpudo while commending the Governor for his efforts in strengthening community development, promised their unflinching support to enable him succeed.

 

The President General of Nteje Community, Chief Chidiebere Obika on his part said that Governor Soludo through the engagements, policy trust has shown great commitment and political will to transform Anambra State and encouraged him to sustain the tempo.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi, Commissioner for Local Government and Town Union Matters, Mr Tony Collins Nwabunwanne among others.
