The Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, JONAPWD Anaocha Chapter, has empowered some members of the chapter with wheelchair and mobility tools in order to alleviate their sufferings.
The chapter made the empowerment at Anaocha Local Government Secretariat, Neni, to mark its eight years anniversary.
JONAPWD which is an umbrella body that unites persons with disabilities in Nigeria, such as the blind, deaf, physical disability and persons with albinism, was inaugurated in Anaocha Local Government Area in October 2014.
The anniversary kick-started with a mass officiated by the Chief Patron of JONAPWD Anaocha Chapter, Reverend Father Cypran Chiekezie.
Father Chiekezie gave them a message of hope, urging them not to be deterred in any condition they found themselves, but trust God wholeheartedly.
Presenting his address, the Anaocha chapter chairman of the Association, Comrade Ifeanyi Igwegbe said the celebration offered them the opportunity to make appraisal of their journey so far and tackle challenges, while revealing that the chapter has recorded tremendous progress.
In a remark, the Transition Committee Chairman for Anaocha, Mr. Gerald Ozoh asked the association to keep on with the good works they are known for, advising them to work towards their dream as there are every ability in disability.
APGA senatorial candidate for Anambra Central, Honourable Dozie Nwankwo represented by Edozie Mmaduagwu and the People’s Democratic Party Candidate for Anambra State House of Assembly for Anaocha Constituency two, Chief Afam Nri, felicitated with the association and pledged their support to them.
Anambra State Chairman of the Association, Comrade Ugochukwu Okeke who called for stakeholders support to the association by providing them with mobility tools, encouraged members of the association to add value to themselves by learning skills.
One of the beneficiaries, Ndidi Ike thanked JONAPWD Anaocha Chapter for coming to his aid.
