The philanthropic gesture which was part of programmes to commemorate the one-year memorial service of the founder of the foundation, the late Sir Victor Oranu, took place at his country home at Abacha with over eighty widows from Saint Michael’s Catholic Parish, Abacha, in attendance.

VOC Foundation, started several years ago by the late Sir Victor and his wife, Mrs. Obianuju Oranu, had passion for giving assistance to widows and other vulnerable members of Abacha Community.

In a Holy Mass to commemorate the event, the parish priest, Saint Michael’s Catholic Parish, Abacha, Reverend Father Bidmore Nnadozie, lauded the wife of the deceased for the philanthropic gesture in honour of her late husband and prayed God to bless her children so that they will also take care of her as she is taking care of others.

Reverend Father Nnadozie alongside the parishioners, prayed at the grave side of the deceased and for his family, declaring God’s continued blessings and protection over them.

Speaking on behalf of Mrs. Oranu, who is based abroad, a relative of the family, Mr. Obidi Ekpunobi, recounted how the foundation began and the various charitable contributions it has made to better the lives of the less privileged.

He noted that even though the founder is dead, the wife seized the opportunity of his one-year memorial service to put smiles on the faces of widows.

The benefactors, Mrs. Florence Ezeakor, Mrs. Theresa Chidebelu and Mrs. Nnoyelum Agu, extolled God for blessing them this season through Mrs. Oranu and prayed that her purse will never run dry and that long life will be her lot for identifying with them.

The widows sang several songs of joy as each of them received a package containing rice, a piece of cloth as well as refreshments.
