Ohaneze Ndigbo Presents Best House Of Assembly Speaker Award To Anambra State Assembly Speaker Okafor

Ohaneze Ndigbo has presented Best House of Assembly Speaker Award to the Anambra State House of Assembly Speaker, Honourable Uche Okafor.

The sociocultural organization who made the presentation during the end of the year get together of the state chapter, also honoured the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Mrs Uche Ekwunife and member representing Onitsha North and South Federal Constituency, Honourable Lynda Ikpeazu.

the end of year get together attracted members of Ohaneze from a across the state and other stakeholders.

The state President of Ohaneze Ndigbo Chief Emeka Udedeme said the awards were in recognition of the various contributions of the recipients to the state and Igboland.

Chief Udedeme lauded the state Assembly Speaker, Honourable Okafor for promoting cordial working relationship among the arms of government and sustained support to activities of Ohaneze Ndigbo.

He called on registered voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards to enable them vote in coming elections and disclosed that local government leaders of the association have been urged to work with other stakeholders to encourage people in their areas to be part of the exercise to enthrone good governance while shunning acts capable of threatening the coming elections.

Responding, the Senator representing Anambra Central, Mrs Ekwunife thanked Ohaneze Ndigbo for the honour and noted that the sociocultural organization remains the strongest and most respected association, while calling on Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to work with community leaders to enhance distribution of PVCs.

Also speaking, the Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Okafor dedicated the award to members of the Assembly, noting that their achievements were through collective efforts and team spirit and called for sustained campaign towards protecting and promoting Igbo language and culture to encourage children to take pride in their heritage and be able to trace their roots.

In his remarks, the Chairman Planning Committee Ohaneze end of year get together, Comrade Uzo Ekemezie, expressed satisfaction with the success of the event and restated the commitment of Ohaneze Ndigbo towards protecting the interest of all Igbo speaking communities across the world and encouraging youths to acquire skills.
