Governor Chukwuma Soludo has officially flagged off the distribution of relief materials to various communities affected by this year’s flood disaster.

 

The relief materials were donated to the state by various groups at various points.

flagging off the exercise at the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA office in Awka, Governor Soludo represented by his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim appreciated the donors for fulfilling part of their social responsibilities, and asked them to do more for the society.

 

Governor Soludo regretted that the flood caused a lot of damages in the affected areas of the state, pointing out that it would have been more disastrous if not the timely intervention of Anambra state government in the areas of evacuation of the victims to holding centres, provision of palliatives, quality healthcare services for the victims throughout the period at the holding centres.

He assured that the state government through its officials will continue to monitor the distribution of the palliatives to make sure they get to the right people.

 

The Executive Secretary of SEMA, Chief Paul Odenigbo explained that the distribution of the palliatives is done by the number of affected communities, and commended various bodies that have been donating to the state since the flood incident.

Items being handed over to the communities were rice, beans, mats, insecticide treated nets, among others.
