In the spirit of Christmas, the Federal Polytechnic, Oko in Orumba North Local Government Area, Anambra State in conjunction with Chaplaincies in the institution have held their 2022 Christmas carols and nine lessons.
The annual event was held at the Convocation Arena of the institution.
It was a day filled with melodies and stories foretelling the birth of Jesus Christ as management, staff and students of the Polytechnic were fully on ground to witness the occasion.
The event was rich in thrilling music, alive with colours and movement as stories of birth of Jesus Christ were recited.
The lessons were taken by some principal officers of the Polytechnic, staff, representatives of the governing council, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Oko Chapter, and the three chaplaincies among others.
The story on the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah and the birth of Jesus Christ were told in nine short Bible readings, starting from the book of Genesis, with renditions by Saint Augustine Chaplaincy, Chapel of light and Chapel of transfiguration, choristers at intervals.
In her address, the Rector of the institution, Dr. Francisca Nwafulugo represented by the Deputy Rector Administration, Dr. Kenneth Ezekwe, maintained that her administration will continue to enhance staff interest, welfare and uphold the tenets of reward for hard work, while soliciting cooperation and support from them.
While commending the three chaplaincies for working together in making this year’s Christmas carol a success, the Rector urged everyone to be their brother’s keeper, forgive one another and seek ways that can make positive impact in the lives of others, as they celebrate Christmas.
Earlier in a sermon, the Chaplain, Chapel of Light, Reverend Cannon Emmanuel Ogudoro, said that Yuletide is a reminder to Christians of the interception of divinity and humanity, urging the people to trust God always even when they are in danger while Reverend Canon Chigozie Obiwulu of Chapel of Transfiguration, reminded Christians of the need to assist the poor, the helpless, the oppressed, the sick and those that mourn adding that the celebration called for opportunity to pray for the whole world for peace on earth, unity and brotherhood especially the institution and Nigeria.
In a remark, the Public Relations Officer of the Institution, Mr. Chijioke Ibeziakor said the season calls for deep introspection and thanked those who made the event a reality, while the Head of Mass Communication Department of the Polytechnic, Barrister Fidelis Oduah, said it is a welcome development on the part of the Polytechnic celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, urging students to live Godly lives.
The event attracted members of the Governing Council of the institution and priests from the three Chaplaincies.
