The Christian community and other stakeholders in Anambra State will tomorrow, Sunday December 18, 2022 converge on All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha for the tenth year memorial service of Dame Hannah Ugoyibo Chukwudozie, Mama Dozzy. Numerous captains of industry, government functionaries, lawmakers, academic dons, friends and well wishers will join the family of Dr. Sir Daniel Chukwudozie, OON, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dozzy Group in counting their blessings at a special holy communion service commencing by 7am at the Cathedral.
The Dozzy family no doubt has every reason for this special thanksgiving especially for being chosen by the Almighty God as the vessel for the blessing to millions of families in and outside Nigeria. God had used Dame Hannah to bring socio-economic relief to many homes. The Diocese on the Niger, Anglican Communion, had in 2013 and 2015 held special Diocesan Music festivals in her honour while appreciating the wonderful support given to the Church of Nigeria by her son, Dr. Sir Dan. Chukwudozie, (Dozzy). Several super structures built by Dozzy Foundation in parts of Anambra and beyond had been named after this visionary, missionary and mother per excellence. A three-storey multi-million naira ultramodern classrooms and administrative block at Lady Hannah Model School, Awada built by Dozzy Foundation was dedicated by Bishop Owen Nwokolo and handed over to the St. James Church, Awada in her honour.
Also, a multi-dimensional complex was built for Lady Hannah Vocational Institute, Okija by Dozzy Foundation as part of its empowerment and skill acquisition programme. The complex was dedicated by former Archbishop Godwin Okpala and handed over to the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion. These were efforts made to immortalize Dame Hannah Chukwudozie who was a humanitarian and special breed of womanhood, who committed her life to the service of God and humanity.
No doubt, the ideals of Dozzy foundation are anchored on the vision of Dame Hannah Ugoyibo Chukwudozie, Ada Zion. This mother Superior paid her dues. She, in deep humility, patiently suffered great pains and built indelible character during her life time and today, Mama Dozzy is being celebrated world over.
Late Dame Hannah Ugoyibo Chukwudozie, who lived from 1937 to 2012, was a woman who devoted all her earthy resources to the upliftment of the downtrodden. That was a woman who saw the afflicted and gave them succour. A woman who saw the battered and beaten and gave them her comforting and soothing shoulder to lean on. Little wonder her epitaph is written in Gold.
The World Igbo Congress in Atlanta Georgia, USA had in appreciation of Mama Dozzy’s selfless services to humanity presented her United Nation’s Diamond post humous Award, while the Igbo speaking community in Lagos conferred on her an iconic figure for widows, based on her services to humanity. Several other honours had also been bestowed on her by institutions, organizations and establishments celebrating excellence and exceptional commitment in motherhood.
It will be recalled that the Okija community had, in November 2012, erupted in a carnival of sorts as people from all walks of life turned out in their numbers to give a most befitting burial to the most amazing woman in a very superlative manner. The burial service was officiated by the then Primate of All Nigeria, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh. The guests list at that memorable occasion include the representatives of the former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Senate President, David Mark, state governors, top government officials and Nigeria’s business class.
