The Acting Director General of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Mrs. Christy Uba has sought the collaboration of Anambra State Government in the training of corps members in different skills.

 

Mrs. Uba stated this when she paid a courtesy visit to wife of the governor of Anambra State, Nonye Soludo, at the governor’s lodge, Amawbia.

The Acting Director General was in the state on a routine tour of orientation camps across the country.

 

According to Mrs. Uba, citing a skill acquisition center in Anambra State will further boost the business climate and skills of the youth population in the South East region and the country at large.

Mrs. Uba, who is from Anambra State, said she felt the imperative of taking the project home, as her own contribution to the human capital development of the state, adding that Governor Chukwuma Soludo, through his support to this scheme, is lending a voice to the universal policy for youth development, beginning with Anambra State.

 

Responding, Mrs. Soludo congratulated Mrs. Uba on her recent appointment and said that plans were already underway to build a mega skill acquisition center in the state, adding that the collaboration with NYSC would facilitate the eventual take-off and development of the centers.

She further stated that the training centers, when completed, will train about five thousand youths in different skills , enhance their productivity, make them self-reliant and employers of labour.

 

The Anambra State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Blessing Iruma and the Chief of Staff to the governor of Anambra State, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, were also at the visit.
