Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, has held its 2022 end of the year interdenominational prayer and service of carols and nine lessons.

 

The annual event, held at the college’s auditorium was accompanied with musical instruments to highlight the birth of Jesus Christ in a glorious atmosphere.

The auditorium was resplendent in red, white, green and yellowish decorations, sparkling Christmas Lights and flowers, depicting the mood of the festive season.

 

The celebration was rich with thrilling music, as the Musical Department of the College, led by the Head of the Department, Dr. Chuma Chukwuka, treated the congregation to melodious carols and anthems composed by local and foreign musicologists.

The first lesson was taken by the provost of the College, Dr. Ifeyinwa Osegbo, while other members of the College governing council, staff and students read the remaining eight lessons, starting from the book of Genesis, down to prophetic books and Gospel books.

 

The occasion was laced with prayers of thanksgiving and intercession for the nation, state, and the college, including staff and students.

In her remark, Dr. Osegbo asked staff and students of the College to use this season and become source of light to one another, while informing them of the need to have more positive change in attitude.

 

She expressed her administration’s resolve to keep pushing the College to enviable heights and providing enabling environment that will cause the students to thrive, urging the staff to join hands with her.

In a sermon, the Chaplain, Chapel of the Holy Spirit of the College, Venerable Charles Chukwurah, implored school authorities to keep shepherding the institution well in order to lift it to greater heights, while reminding the congregation to understand the in-depth meaning of Christmas season, as it is a season of joy and appreciation to God for the gift of Jesus.

 

The event, officiated by the Chaplain, St Catherine Catholic Chaplaincy of the College, Reverend Father Ben Udeh, was capped with the rendition of Hallelujah Chorus.
