A Frontline industrialist, Dr Goodwin Okafor has described the ongoing massive road construction and reconstruction in different parts of Anambra State as a major step towards transforming the state.

 

Speaking with Newsmen at the Agu Awka industrial layout, Dr Okafor who described quality road as a major contributor to industrial growth and development, said that the declaration of state of emergency on Anambra roads by Governor Chukwuma Soludo will apart from enhancing both human and vehicular movements boost business transactions.

 

Dr Okafor who is a community leader in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area, charged the people of Anambra State and residents of the state to continue with their support to the Soludo administration through prompt payment of tax and levies to enable the government continue to serve them better.

 

He called on the federal government to seek ways of assisting the indigenous industries by making favourable policies that will encourage its growth and development.

 

Dr Okafor urged the federal government to ban the importation of goods that are being manufactured in Nigeria to boost the Nation’s Gross Domestic Product GDP.

 

He said that since the private sector is the major employer of labour, efforts should be made by the government to ensure its steady growth especially in areas of provision of constant power supply and granting of tax holiday of at least five years for new industries to enable them stand firm before they can be asked to start tax payment.

 

Dr Okafor who described 2023 as a year that holds great prospects for the Nigerian nation, charged eligible voters to vote for those who have their interest at heart in next year’s general elections.

 

Dr Okafor called on the people to use the period of Christmas in praying for continued corporate existence of the country, and cautioned the citizenry against working against those in leadership positions.
