Vehicular traffic in Onitsha has been observed to be moving gradually as people keep returning for Christmas celebration.

Traffic officials were seen at most junctions and strategic points, including Nkpor Junction, Borromeo Roundabout, Upper-Iweka, Bridge Head among others.

Some travelers, who spoke to the ABS, including Mr. Obinna Akaya and Anayo Osimu professed free flow of traffic at the Bridge Head but heavy at the Asaba end which made people to walk from Asaba Toll Gate to Onitsha.

Speaking, the Onitsha Unit Commander, Federal Roads Safety Corps, FRSC, Assistant Corps Commander, Enyia Kekong, said that they started by educating people on traffic rules and increased number of their personnel at critical areas.

He said that their towing van is also on standby to remove vehicles which may break down, and regretted that recalcitrant drivers make their work very tedious as they do not obey traffic rules but affirmed that the FRSC is on top of the situation.

ABS also observed that vehicles are still trickling in from the second Niger Bridge that was recently opened for public use.
