The need for regular checkup and exercise to maintain good health has been reemphasized.

 

This became the crux of the matter during a two-day health outreach organised by Goodfellas International Club, Nibo

 

The health outreach tagged “Ndu bu aku” featured health walk and health talks on the first day and free medical outreach for the people of the community took place the second day.

The President General of Nibo Professor Tony Nwokoye, who doubled as the chairman on the occasion, during the health talks at Civic Centre Nibo, commended Goodfellas Club for championing development of the community, noting that it is important for other groups and associations to join hands with them to make more impact.

 

In a presentation, the lead paper presenter Doctor Dozie Okoye, whose topic centered on “Tackling the rice in the incidence of kidney failure” regretted that kidney failure is on the rise in Nigeria and blamed the development on intake of tin and carbonated foods and drinks, as well as having High Blood sugar and High Blood Pressure, even as he tasked the people on regular health checks.

On their parts, the second presenter Dr Uchay Obidigbo, talked on the topic Practical tips on the current management of hypertension and Diabetes while Professor Xander Nwofor spoke on health challenges that come with ageing, where they harped on the need to control blood sugar and blood pressure and also to know that the body becomes weak during ageing, which they say requires, routine checkup and good dieting.

 

The President of Goodfellas International Club Nibo, Mr Kelvin Nwaonu, said that community development is everybody’s business and should not be left for few individuals, and appreciated all who came for the health talk and all who made it successful.

The second day of the event featured free medical outreach simultaneously at the four villages in Nibo where free consultations were made, as well as free diagnosis and treatment of various ailments.

 

At Umuanum village, the free medical outreach took place at Nibo maternity hospital, at Ezeawulu hall for Ezeawulu village, at Holy Trinity Anglican church for Ifite Nibo village and at Ezeinwankwo Primary school for Ezeoye village.

Some of the beneficiaries Samuel Nwobu, and Grace Chima, appreciated Goodfellas international club and Nibo Christian Brethren for the gesture, praying God to bless them abundantly.
