As the year 2023 started yesterday , Christians drew nearer to God with special church services to present selves and rededicate their lives for the journey of the year.

 

Some had cross over night and held Church services in the morning to ensure no one is left out; so as to deepen relationship with Christ and build faith in a moment like this.

There was jubilation and thanksgiving for God’s grace and mercies upon all throughout last year and the opportunity to see year 2023.

 

In his sermon during a Church service, the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, asked Christians to exercise faith amidst temptation, political instability, mass unemployment and many other challenges.

Most Reverend Ibezim harped on the need for fervent prayers and dedication to the things of God.

 

In his message, the Bishop, Methodist Church of Nigeria, Diocese of Awka, Right Reverend Onyekachi Nwakanma, said God assured Christians of restoration, reconciliation and healing of all sorts in the country, thereby giving them hope, deliverance and mercy.

Right Reverend Nwakanma said the God’s hands are upon Nigeria, and if Nigerians should turn back to him, all their challenges and difficulties will be a thing of the past and advised citizens to be wise in electing candidates that will bring needed changes in the country.

 

The Chaplain, Chapel of the Healing Cross, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku Awka, Reverend Edozie Chukwuoggor, said that as the year begins, Nigerians should pay no attention to things of the old; as Christ has renewed all that concern them.

Reverend Chukwuoggor gave Christians hope of all round beginning and greater things; as Christ has come in his glory to reconcile them with their maker, forgive and give them abundant life.

 

At the Divine Mercy Chaplaincy, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka, the Chaplain, Reverend Father Justin Ezechukwu, in his homily, said the faithfulness of God is sufficient for all who entered the new year, urging them to discover their identity as children of God and pursue it for the purpose of God.

 

Reverend Ezechukwu encouraged the parishioners to allow the promises of God prevail in their lives and walk away from all false promises.
