As part of efforts to boost conviviality among brethren, Enugwu village, Adazi -Enu, in Anaocha Local Government Area has organized the maiden edition of Enugwu day.
The event took place at Enugwu Village Hall, where various masquerades performed to the admiration of the villagers.
Masquerades like Okwoma, Otakagu, Ajofia danced at the arena, giving children, mothers and youths the opportunity to fut enjoy Christmas celebration.
There was also a performance from Ifeabatago Block Rosary Group, Adazi.
Enugwu village Adazi- Enu used the opportunity to raise funds for it’s scholarship programme where they intend to ensure that every child in the village is enrolled in school, both primary and secondary, irrespective of family financial status.
Speaking at the occasion, the traditional Prime Minister of Adazi-Enu Chief Sunday Ezeokonkwo said that the move by leadership of Enugwu village is apt especially now that education is the bedrock of development, urging them to keep it up.
The Chairman of the occasion Chief Okwuchukwu Ezeonueodi in a speech thanked Enugu Adazi for the love they have for one another adding that the education program is a noble initiative for the good of the village and Adazi-Enu at large.
The Chairman of Enugwu Village Adazi -Enu, Barrister Jideofor Okongwu said that the maiden edition of the event was successful, and disclosed that the scholarship covers twenty children annually, while they would also ensure tight security as they planned to empower their village vigilante for optimal results.
Barrister Okongwu explained that he decided to organize the programme to ensure that those who came for Christmas enjoy their days in the village.
While announcing that the event will be an annual event, he prayed for, fruitful new year and journey mercies to their people as they return to their base.
Another stakeholder in the town Prince Chike Okongwu said they will sustain the scholarship project through donations and good will of their people.
