Since Professor Chukwuma Soludo assumed office as Governor of Anambra State, starting from his first day in office till this day, it has been work, work, work! From laying a solid foundation for a livable and prosperous Anambra State, to strategic implementations which are being witnessed in many sectors.
In the past nine months, Governor Soludo has basically touched all sectors of the economy, ranging from, education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, human capital development, and security, among others. Governor Soludo in a bid to have a strong education and health system, has embarked on employment of teachers and health workers.
Just recently, 5000 teachers were employed to end the era of schools without teachers in both primary and secondary schools in Anambra State. Anambra has become one massive construction site with over 250 kilometers of road under construction in almost all the local governments in the state.
Governor Soludo in an attempt to strengthen the state economy has moved to diversify the economy by introducing palm and coconut economy as well as regenerative agriculture to make food more valuable. Security is gradually returning to the state as the governor is hellbent on chasing criminal elements out of Anambra state.
Street lights have returned to augment the efforts of security personnel especially at night. Thousands of youths are undergoing different skill acquisition trainings with expectation of being empowered after the training under the one youth, two skills initiative.
Several important boards have been inaugurated to help the institutions perform effectively. The world has also visited Anambra State as well as development partners to ascertain the real situation of things and know how best to intervene.
The 2022 revised budget of about 170 billion naira is being implemented and the 2023 appropriation bill of about 259 billion naira has been signed into law by the governor all in the quest to build a livable and prosperous smart megacity.
It is important to note that Anambra state government is yet to borrow any money despite having gotten approval from the state house of assembly to borrow a hundred billion naira. Yet the government is implementing projects worth billions of naira.
This milestone achieved by Governor Soludo under nine months shows collective action towards building a strong future for the state.
It means that every resident of the state must be law abiding, encourage and support the programmes and policies of the government, living up to our civic duty as citizens.
Recall that Governor Chukwuma Soludo had promised ndi Anambra a disruptive change that is positive, prudent and accountable while managing the resources of the state and Anambra’s tax money.
The Governor also promised to revive the social contract between the government and the people which simply means that the people should pay their fair share of tax while the government would provide quality leadership using tax money.
Therefore, for Anambra to attain that desired height of sustainable growth and development, capturing eco-friendly environment, quality infrastructural development, quality education and healthcare services, strong security network, youth and agricultural development among others, everyone has a role to play.
Let’s move together to achieving a better Anambra State through sincerity and love for the state.
